The Johnny Mountain Mine Project is located within Tahltan Traditional Territory. SnipGold included the Tahltan Central Government, Iskut and Tahltan Bands on project developments, in-person meetings and presentations. Through this active and open communication with the Tahltan Central Government, the reclamation project has the support of the Tahltan Central Government. Owing to the proximity of Johnny Mountain Mine to the United States border, information was also disseminated to regulators in the United States.

Due to the legacy attached with the mine site, safety planning and site management was critical for the safe implementation of the Johnny Mountain reclamation program. Seabridge transparently communicated about proposed reclamation activities for the site with external stakeholders, including British Columbian and Alaskan regulators and the Tahltan Nation.

Since 2017, Seabridge Gold has invested more than $8 million to reclaim the JMM mine site and most of that amount has been paid to local companies, Tahltan contractors and employees.  Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC), Tahltan-MATRIX Exploration Joint Venture (JV), Rescan Tahltan Environmental Consultants, Tahltan Allnorth Consultants Ltd., Lakelse Air, Tahltech Drilling Services (Geotech), Progressive Ventures and TNDC JV are the Tahltan contractors assisting with cleanup activities at the Johnny Mountain Mine site.
